Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit: Murano Venezia, first speakers confirmed. As the dates are getting closer, Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit is revealing more and more speakers. Today we are focusing in Murano Venezia, for those who don’t know what they are and what they accomplish here we leave you some interesting facts.
Murano Venezia is a school of glass or la Scuola del Vetro, Abate Zanetti. This school is recognized for “training in both traditional and contemporary techniques and methods of artistic glassmaking” and also for producing products with glass, this fine and unique material.
Francesca Merciari is one of the artisans that teaches in this school in Venezia, Italy and will be one of the speakers at Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit.
Francesca Merciari begins her artistic career at the Ravenna Academy of Fine Arts, where she distinguishes herself by winning the 2009 award “Premio Tesi” and participating in numerous extra curricular activities and exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.
Her passion for glass art dates back to 2003, when she attends the biennial specialization course at the Vetroricerca Glass & Modern glass school in Bolzano, where she learns and deepens the techniques of glass processing. Since 2009 she moves to Venice, where she works and graduates in ‘Visual Arts and Entertainment’ at the IUAV University.
Thanks to her heterogeneous formation, which also includes periods of collaboration with some Murano historical glass factories, Francesca has been able to develop profound knowledge in the field of glass, combining technical-practical skills with historical-theoretical knowledge. Her path combines skills and passion for this subject with continuous research that expresses the relationship between craftsmanship and design, manuality and design, practice and theory.
Since 2017 she is part of the Abate Zanetti Glass School teaching staff.
