Mid-Century Modern Furniture Collection: La Dolce Vita
New Mid-Century Modern Furniture Collection – Dolce Vita designed by Carlo Donati Studio for Essential Home is inspired by the modernist architecture and design of the great masters of the 50s and 60s.
Mid-Century Modern Furniture Collection’s design philosophy is always deeply rooted in the past of my country of origin, Italy, referencing the impeccable design of the post-war period of Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, and the structurally poetic architecture of Pier Luigi Nervi.
At the same time, I am fascinated by the direction modernism takes when applied in a different contexts like Palm Springs with its timelessly elegant villas. – Carlo Donati
Palm Springs particularly is a mirage, defined by its modern, functional, and aesthetic concepts. In the fifties and Sixties, it became an unusual vacation place in the middle of the desert, a kind of Dolce Vita lifestyle for Hollywood stars like Elvis and Frank Sinatra.
A Mid-century Modern Furniture Collection is a laboratory for architecture and design with its own taste for bright colors and for the typical upholstery with geometric patterns. Each piece of the collection is named after an Italian great actor or director of the mid-century. Check it out each wonderful peace, here:
Another beautiful Mid-Century Modern Collection’s furniture piece called Vittorio. These same curvilinear lines are found in the sophisticated design of the Vittorio sideboard, named after the great Vittorio Gassman.
The combination of the wooden black lacquered H shaped legs with a walnut wood body and recessed golden handles, recall the lines of a blooming flower. The recessed top of this unique sideboard was also handcrafted in Calacatta Oro marble for an extra touch of luxury.
The precious crossing curved brass frame of this beautiful screen, named after Giulietta Masina, creates an elegant dialogue with the upholstery deep yellow or peacock velvet combined with a fifties’ taste fabric. The interesting octagonal patterns rediscover the taste for decoration, a detail that is very typical of the modernist design concept. Surely, one of the most fascinating pieces from the Mid-Century Modern Furniture Collection!
Inspired by the Turin’s beautiful Palazzo del Lavoro by Pier Luigi Nervi and Gio Ponti, this unique chandelier embodies a look of a stylized plant with a round-shaped heart with the arms that rise like gilded branches.
More than a simple lighting design, the Mina Chandelier is one of a kind statement lighting piece for any design projects. Therefore, it incorporates a double light system: a central one for lighting the table and a strip led under each arm of the lamp for a more scenographic, etc.
